Does soy increase your chance of breast cancer?

Consumers have concerns soy may be linked to a higher risk of breast cancer because of its naturally estrogenic isoflavone content. However, the isoflavones in soy are better classified as SERMs. SERMs do not always mimic estrogen behaviors. Both the American Cancer Society and the American Institute for Cancer Research stand by research that soy does not increase the risk of breast cancer.

In fact, several research studies have shown soy intake improves breast cancer survival.

Additionally, five research studies in the U.S. and China have shown soy intake after a breast cancer diagnosis effectively decreases the recurrence of breast cancer.
