CROP OUTLOOK
Powered by Extension, built for agriculture.
Crop Lookout is a real-time, interactive map designed to keep farmers, agronomists, and industry professionals informed of emerging field crop issues across the United States and Canada. Updated throughout the growing season by university Extension specialists and research partners, the tool provides timely visibility into developing disease, pest, and agronomic challenges.
Crop Lookout is built to expand monitoring beyond a single crop and improve the user experience. The platform streamlines reporting and incorporates a verifier network to ensure high-quality, accurate data.
To bring this vision to life, the Crop Protection Network and Better Together partnered with the University of Georgia’s Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health, which provides IT support and infrastructure through Ag Pest Monitor – a system rooted in the historic PIPE programs. Today, Crop Lookout leverages the expertise of nearly 300 Extension specialists contributing to projects within this framework.
In the past year alone, Crop Lookout has logged more than 3,500 reports covering 19 subjects. Soybean rust ranked as the third most prevalent issue, with 470 confirmed sightings in 2025. Ongoing collaborations, including efforts to integrate data from Penn State’s Open Crop Manager, promise to further strengthen the platform and expand its reach.
With Crop Lookout, agricultural stakeholders can stay informed, anticipate threats, and make more confident decisions – protecting yields and advancing crop health across North America.
