The ports of the lower Mississippi River are a major gateway for the U.S. export economy. As the largest volume port in the U.S., 60% of our nation’s grain and other exports ship out of it every year. At a depth of just 45 feet, it’s keeping us from loading the larger-size ships that leading import countries are currently accepting.
