Affiliated Organizations | CAS partnered with Microsoft’s new Environmental Credit Service (ECS). This service is part of Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability and is designed to expedite, simplify, and secure the origination process for carbon credits. In April 2024, CAS announced a strategic partnership with Biodel Ag to offer a more integrated service offering. Biodel will initially target 50,000 acres of carbon projects in the western U.S. with its Regenerative Carbon Program. |

Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) | CAS’s proprietary MMRV technology is supported and partnered with several entities, including the USDA and Microsoft Azure. Carbon content is measured and reported digitally, along with farm data collected. |
Digital Tools for MRV | Patented Mobile Inelastic Neutron Scattering (MINS) technology scans high volumes of soil to 30cm depth to accurately measure carbon in the soil. CAS utilizes advanced proprietary technology and software to manage carbon soil data in a blockchain solution. Proprietary carbon scanning technologies are linked with blockchain / Azure cloud data security through an ISO-certified verification process to deliver carbon credits to global markets. |
Qualification/eligibility criteria | Participants must be the landowners of the operation for which credits are being generated. Project onboarding through project participation agreement (PPA) confirms landowner eligibility. |
Minimum Acreage | |
Must land be owned? | Yes |
Minimum Data Requirements | Farm-related data is required to confirm producer eligibility. Producers must share current farm practices, as well as proposed changes in practices to sequester carbon. Current emissions are required. |
Years of management practice data needed
Does the program pay for past practices?
Additional information | There is no cost or charge for producers to sign up. 60% of revenues are passed along to producers, and producers do not assume any risk of permanence. Credits are measured in CO2e. A map is provided to producers for future carbon sequestration. |
