Corteva’s Carbon Initiative uses Granular Insights to calculate the carbon benefits of implementing new practices. Credits are sold through a partnership with Indigo Ag to enable farmers to maximize the value of their soil health practices.

Payment Amount and Details | The guaranteed minimum price is $20/mt of CO2e Through the partnership with Indigo Ag, Producers will receive at least 75% of the carbon credits’ value so they can capture market upside benefits. Credits vest over a five-year period. Producers are paid 50% of the credits in year one, 20% in year two, and 10% in years three, four, and five. |

Contract Details | Enrolled fields can be changed when necessary. If Producers are unable to implement a practice, Corteva does not ask for a refund, but will pause payments until practice is resumed and Producers demonstrate net-new carbon sequestered above established baseline. Producers can opt out anytime but forfeit any unvested payments. |
Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) | MRV requirements are driven by CAR protocol requirements. Indigo Ag uses third-party verifiers. Indigo Ag pays for the cost of sampling and certification. Sampling only measures carbon; it does not include other fertility or soil testing. |
Digital Tools for MRV | Granular Insights is the tool that Producers use to collect and submit data to Corteva. Granular Insights is a free digital tool provided by Corteva. |
Qualification/eligibility criteria | Producers must implement a new practice in the prior growing season to enroll in the program. Eligible crops include Barley, Canola, Corn, Cotton, Dry Edible Beans, Dry Field Peas, Flax, Oats, Peanuts, Rye, Sorghum, Soybeans, Sugar Beets, Sunflowers, and Dry Wheat |
